About Your Ring
Your ring is made to be worn and loved every day. Here's everything you need to know about what happens after you order, and how I'll look after you and your ring for years to come.
Your order
Bespoke pieces take around 8 weeks from when we finalise your design. If you need it sooner, just ask, as express production is sometimes possible for an extra fee. I take a 50% deposit to begin, and the rest is due before your ring is collected or sent out.
Once stones are set, the design can't be changed. So we'll make sure you're completely happy before that point. Because each bespoke piece is made just for you, it can't be returned if you change your mind. If something isn't right, though, please tell me and I'll make it right.
Your ring is covered
Every piece comes with a 12-month warranty from the day you collect or receive it. It covers anything that comes from how it was made, such as a weak claw, a faulty setting or a flaw in the metal. If something isn't right because of a manufacturing fault, I'll repair or replace it at no cost to you. This is on top of your legal rights, not instead of them.
What it doesn't cover is the normal life of a ring:
- everyday wear and knocks
- accidental damage or loss
- softer gemstones chipping from a bump
- the natural wearing away of white gold's rhodium plating, which needs refreshing every 12–24 months
- tarnish on sterling silver
- damage from chemicals or not following the care advice below
- anything that's been worked on by another jeweller
If something isn't covered, I'll always give you a quote before doing any work.
If a stone comes loose
Stop wearing your ring and get in touch, and I'll secure it as quickly as I can. If a stone is lost within 3 months of purchase, I'll replace it free of charge, unless it's down to an impact, bent claws or work by another jeweller. After that, replacement stones are charged at cost.
Resizing
Solid gold and platinum engagement rings include one free resize within 12 months, by up to 2 sizes. Some designs, like eternity bands, can't be resized, and I'll always let you know when you order.
I'd recommend wearing your ring for at least a week before deciding whether it needs adjusting, as finger sizes naturally change with temperature and throughout the day.
Everyday care
I recommend cleaning your ring once a week with warm water, a little washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush. Gently brush around and underneath the stone to remove any build up, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth.
Your ring is made for everyday wear, but I'd recommend taking it off when exercising, swimming, gardening or doing anything involving heavy lifting or chemicals. It's also best to put it on after applying lotions, perfumes or skincare products.
Polishing & check ups
Over time, your ring will naturally pick up little scratches and marks. This is completely normal and part of wearing jewellery!
Engagement rings in gold, platinum and silver can be polished free of charge at my Shoreditch studio. Just email me to book an appointment. I'd also recommend popping in for a quick claw check every 6–12 months, especially if you wear your ring every day. It's the easiest way to catch a loose stone early.
